What is HEYA?

“HEYA” means “room” in Japanese. And Toyota has built an online room and thrown open the doors to you. Think of it as a rec room and art studio, inventor’s garage and screening room. HEYA is a place to share and collaborate on ideas – an online conversation that leads to new thinking and projects—with each other, and with Toyota.

Over 500 creative young people and one car company.

What’s the goal?

We’re hoping that by picking your brain we’ll understand the zeitgeist that much better. And we’re hoping to help you, too. The question that sums it all up: “What can we do together?” So we’re going to listen and try to learn something with you. Here’s the deal: we want to collaborate with you online in our forums and offline with events in your community to create something. Something that will affect culture positively. And maybe leave your fingerprints all over our car designs.

What are the benefits?

Influence the Toyota brand. Connect with like-minded creatives like you. Participate in unique and custom HEYA events in your area. Receive financial support as well as critique, feedback, and help in pulling off your own personal projects.

What kind of projects?

Any forum member may start with an idea, seek help from other members of the forum to develop it and then propose the project to Toyota for funding. The project can be an art piece, Web site, community service initiative, invention—just about anything, really. Toyota will reward the most innovative and collaborative ideas with $2500 sponsorships and maybe more!
